About me
My name is Koczka, I am a master hairstylist and the artistic director of Random Shooting Day. I’ve been deeply in love with my profession for nearly thirty years now. I never stop, and this project is one of those initiatives that grew out of that mindset.
Eight years ago, my life went through a dramatic, almost free-fall-like change. Because of this, I withdrew for a weekend, cut off all contact with everyone, and took time to rethink my life: what was good, what was not, what I already had, and what was missing. I realized how lucky I am — my job is my hobby, I truly enjoy what I do every day, I work with a great, positive clientele, and everything felt right. Yet there was one thing I deeply missed: creation — truly living my creative self.
That’s when I decided to create a group of professionals who felt the same longing. I wanted to give this idea a structure, and that’s when I thought of two friends of mine and their long-running music project called Random Trip. Every Tuesday, musicians gather and play together completely at random — and something magical is always born from it.
So my idea was built on this concept. We shoot every Thursday, and everything is completely random. It became a closed group exclusively for industry professionals — today, around two hundred of us are part of it: makeup artists, stylists, photographers, model agencies. Every Thursday, a new photo series is created, almost always with a different team coming together week by week. In a way, it also brings the industry closer together.
My goal was to help professionals meet each other, get to know one another, and create together. Everyone participates voluntarily and completely free of charge — driven by love for the profession and, of course, by portfolio building. The motto of the project is:
When and how did you come to Random?
