Koczka Panni

I am Koczka, master hairdresser

Artistic Director of Random Shooting Day. A lover of my profession for almost thirty years, I never stop and this project is one such initiative!

Eight years ago, I had a profound change in my life and because of it I went away for a weekend, disconnected from everyone and reflected on my life, what's good and what's bad, what I have and what I'm missing. I realised that I was a lucky man, because my work is my hobby and everything I do on a weekday is very good, with a 'cool' clientele, but one thing I was missing was creativity, living my creative self. So I decided to create a group of professionals who also wanted to do this. I wanted to have a system for this, and I thought of a long-standing musical project of two friends, Random Trip. Every Tuesday, musicians get together and make random music and something wonderful always comes out of it.

So, my idea is based on that! We shoot every Thursday and everything is completely random. It became a closed group with only professionals: two hundred of us: make-up artists, stylists, photographers, model agencies. Every Thursday, a series of photos is taken, with almost always a different team every week. It brings the profession together a little bit. My aim was to get the professionals to meet each other, get to know each other and create together. Everyone volunteers to come for free, for the love of the profession and of course to build a portfolio. The motto of the project: We follow dreams, not fashions!

After the first fifty photo series, I thought that this shouldn't just be lost in the virtual world, so I thought of creating an exhibition and selling the photos to support a charity in need. My guests were almost as one with me and helped me in every way to make it happen in a quality way. It was a wonderful evening, they bought all the pictures in an hour and a half. It was an incredible feeling to see people queuing up for the pictures! Almost half a million forints was raised to support the Suhanj Foundation's two-month swimming programme for children with Down's syndrome, limb deficiency and mobility problems.

In the following years we continued to hold exhibitions, each year we helped a different foundation and association in need: the Fábián Juli Memorial Foundation, the Trauma Ambulance Association, the Hungarian Hospice House, the Hidden Treasures Down Association, the PAF Foundation and the Cseperedő Foundation.

Over the past eight years, three hundred projects have been completed, and the initiative has been supported, or rather put in front of the camera, by many well-known and popular artists.
